VM Pages

These are my Visual Merchandising pages, they're not completly finished yet! They are my designs/ideas of how a shop window could look with each of my trends being displayed.

'Dark Rebel' Street Style trend shop display
Gothical frame around a smashed Mirror in the background. Manikins on transparent box/stage.
'Timeless Treasures' ethical trend display. Inspired by a luxurious vintage room and wardrobe.
(please ignore shape at very top!)
This is the window display design of my cultural trend 'Summer of Love'. With the background image of a photo of the crowd at Woodstock 1969 I really love it, in black and white it brings out the other colours to its not too overpowering. Raised platform to try and resemble a stage like the manikins are centre stage.

More trend book stuffs...

For my street style trend i have looked at recent gothic inspired trends - partially fueled by the epic teenage hit that is the film Twilight. I looked out in public to see what people were wearing on the streets and online on lookbook and other sites. I decided that the gothic trend was not ready to die out yet but would develop a much punkier rebellious snappier side so decided to mix them both up!

For my ethical trend I wanted to look into classical feminity, soft pastely colours yet still glamourous diamond, beautiful, Marilyn Monroe like femininity. Instead of designing anything I wanted, i have shown how old items of clothing could be recycled and renewed ethically to produce new styles of clothing and new, fresh outfits :)
For his skirt and jacket I used Kaledo to modify them into looking how they could be recycled and renewed to make an ethical new style.

Trend Book Project

Ok... so we are making a trend forecasting book for our project this term. Ive been researching looking into music, news, worldly issues, current and past trends etc. We need to produce an ethical, ethnic and street style inspired trend for each style.

My first trend ive decided will become big and popular is a woodstock festival kind of image. This is my cultural trend. Festivals are getting more and more popular and a kind of 60's hippy, boho look I can see becoming very popular. Im going to call it 'summer of love' as that took place in the 1960s like Woodstock and the massive hippie culture.

This is one of my favourite photos ever!  It is of two hippies standing by a tent at the Woodstock Festival. The words on the tent seems like it somes up what they're thinking and the madness that was this highly popular, crowded festival. Yet theyre so chilled standing looking on at it. It inspired me to design a slouchy vest/ dress for my trend book.. here it is...
I'd love to see it made in real life teamed with Hunter wellies and denim shorts!

Second Week at Reveal Mag!

Ok... so second week was pretty damn amazing.. Both the fashion assistants were away abroad so I had more responsibilities to take on... I took and made more important calls, put in orders for clothes and accessories..etc and helped with the beauty section of the magazine also.

Pixie Lott was launching her collection at Lipsy in the week at House Of Fraser down Oxford Street. I, as a part of the Reveal team, got invited for the official launch party at uber trendy Gilgamesh in Camden in the evening.
There was free cocktails, candyfloss, pik'n'mix and a photobooth with funny dressing up clothes inside! not to mention the place swarming with celebs! Pixie looked beautiful in one of her designed dressed and made a speech thanking everyone. They presented her with an award for her successful sell out s/s collection too. Her collection looked fab, I think she's done Lipsy very proud!
Inside of Gilgamesh Pixie's collection was displayed along with a band set and her big glittery name!
Pixie making her speech......
Tinchy Stryder was one of her celeb friends there to support her launch..

I took a photo for a lady with Pixie and she noticed i was wearing this ring on my finger and held up her hand to mine showing she had the exact same one! Pixie's known to like her rings.. (regularly wearing one on every finger) This one is from Juicy Couture or www.asos.com

All in all work experience has been such a learning experience and really value how important it is so you can get your foot in the doorway into the fashion world! The Fashion Editor Wendy actually said to me she valued work experience more important then a degree when she looks to employ someone new. This shocked me at first but i knew what she meant and made me realise i need to get as much work experience as i can.

Work Experience at Reveal Magazine!

Ok.. so first week of work experience at Reveal.. I've really enjoyed the week and learnt alot about how the magazine works!..
It started off with me sending back clothes & samples they'd been sent at Reveal and I was doing that mostly for the first 3 days. I then got to look for celeb images on their special up to date system which brings in so many new papped celeb photos throughout the day and I had to look at what they were wearing for the 'i want what she's got' page.
I recognized a few Topshop items (Topshop fanatic) aswel as some others so got all the pics prepared ready for the magazine spread. Also had to write the captions which I felt pretty nervous about doing at first. I had a huge grin on my face when the Fashion Stylist said it was good though :)

I was told I was going to be working on a photoshoot with Katya Virshilas - a championship dancer from Strictly Come Dancing. I was sooo excited!
I had to travel to an amazingly beautiful house in London, prepare the clothes and outfits, steam/iron, lay them out. I helped style and dress Katya. I had such a great day - it was an amazing experience. I loved seeing how they set it all out and took pictures. Everybody there was so nice and worked together so well.
